Officially Republic of Paraguay, it is a country locked in South America with access to the Atlantic Ocean thanks to the Paraná River. Its name is due to the Guarani word “Para” which means river. It obtained its independence from Spain on May 11, 1811.
Its economy is based on agriculture and it is one of the largest exporters of hydroelectric energy.
