Officially the Republic of Chile, it is the longest country in the world. Being so long and located on the Andes, it has drastic changes in the climate. From the north it begins with an arid climate in the driest desert on the planet, it crosses through tropical forests until reaching arctic climates in the southern part of the country.
It achieved independence from Spain on February 12, 1818.
Its economy is based on agriculture and iron and copper mining.
