I am Nicolás Iriondo and all my life I have dreamed of traveling the world with special people by my side. I have had the opportunity to travel to several destinations around the world. I think life is too short not to enjoy it. For this reason, I decided to create the Blog and in this way help travelers, adventurers, explorers, bikers and anyone interested in any particular destination. Help people with some tips or advice that I have been able to realize throughout each journey, paperwork, roads, people and places to meet.
“Viajando Sin Frenos (Traveling Without Brakes) seeks to demonstrate the importance of traveling and living life with emotion. The name does not mean that we go at full speed on the road or through life without stopping. It is a group of ideas that leads you to not stop traveling, to not stop enjoying life, to not stop learning, to not stop knowing and most importantly to live life.
There will always be situations where you have to stop, family, friends, work, landscapes …… That is why the main idea is, find a balance where you can travel, where you invest in yourself, see the world and never stop learning from experiences.
Traveling, meeting different people, discovering new countries and cultures is just a small detail of what you can achieve with this lifestyle. This is why I invite you to continue reading and leave comments or upload photos to Instagram with #viajandosinfrenos.
The trip trough South America on Motorcycle 2017 - 2018
In mid-2016, my dad (Humberto), my brother (Pedro) and I decided to change the enduro bikes to start a new journey. We decided to sell the motorcycles that accompanied us for almost 5 years to buy our BMW F800GS and travel around South America.
Initially our plan was to travel from Bogotá to Puno, Peru as our first long trip. In order to have time and get used to the motorcycle, we decided to take the ride by the end of 2017 (Celebrating 50 years of Humberto) and waiting for the summer to favor us a bit.
November 5, 2016. My father suffers a heart attack playing tennis. This day, we all realize that life is very delicate and can end at any moment and that it is our task to enjoy it and to live to the fullest every moment. That day our lives changed and our goals and dreams widened. Instead of traveling only to Peru, we decided to go down to Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego in Argentina and then go up to the Iguazu Falls through Buenos Aires and return trough Brazil to Bogotá.
Our dream of reaching the southernmost city in the world has ended. And now I’m ready for new adventures…..
Around the world 2019 - .....
Since the beginning of 2019, the idea of continue traveling began to itch me. I was between 2 decisions: continue with my motorcycle and go to Alaska and return or sell what I had in Colombia and try to go around the world and visit many countries.
I started saving a lot and reduced my expenses to be able to fulfill my dream. In the middle of the year I decided it was time to buy a one-way ticket and I left. On August 16, 2019, I started my trip with a one-way ticket to Madrid and we will see what destination will come….
Some things about me:
- Although I love to travel, I will always be Colombian and always find a way to return to the country that I love so much.
- I love Italian and Mexican food! They will always be my favorites (Let’s see what I eat on the trip)
- Since I was little, they tell me a little boy because I love climbing trees, I am restless and I like adventure.
- I don’t like sea food
- I have the advantage of being bilingual because I studied in an English school.
- I have Spanish nationality which facilitates some paperwork for visas.
- I love cooking for myself and my friends, I don’t cook to people I just met because I don’t know their tastes.
- I love meeting people and their stories.
- I love animals and nature.
- Even though I love swimming, I am afraid of the unknown and sometimes I am afraid of the sea.
- Thailand and India are the countries that most attract my attention.
- I love action and comedy movies.
- I have realized that I am a very social person and traveling just gives me a little hard.
